Discover Canada’s Coolest Coastal Communities

It’s safe to say that Canada is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. From an abundance of natural scenery and outdoor attractions to the fact that there is truly never a dull moment no matter where you are, Canada has solidified itself as a force to be reckoned with for many different reasons.

One of the biggest things that Canada is known for is it’s beautiful coastal communities that many lucky people get to call home, and tourists from all over the world visit each year. Whether you’re looking for the perfect weekend getaway town or scoping out Vancouver homes for sale and trying to get to know your new surroundings, here are some of Canada’s coolest coastal communities you may have yet to discover.

Victoria-by-the-Sea, Prince Edward Island

When it comes to Canadian coastal towns, it doesn’t get much more charming than Victoria-by-the-Sea. This historic fishing village has been known to draw a youthful, creative crowd in recent years, meaning this is the perfect home or vacation spot for young artists. The best way to describe Victoria-by-the-Sea is “storybook village come to life,” and one visit to this quaint town will show you why. If you decide to make Victoria-by-the-Sea your next destination, be sure to stop by the Victoria Seaport Lighthouse Museum for an experience that is both educational and relaxing.

Chester, Nova Scotia

If you’re a yachting enthusiast, Chester is the place for you. This town is most famous for its abundance of outdoor activities, most notably yachting. In fact, the Chester Yacht Club is one of the most popular of its kind in all of Canada.

If yachting isn’t quite your thing, there are still tons of fun things to do in Chester for people of all ages. If you decide to visit, be sure to check out some of the local hiking and biking trails, or spend a relaxing weekend away at a local bed and breakfast for some much-needed downtime.

St. Andrews, New Brunswick

St. Andrews is another beautiful Canadian coastal community with tons of charm and even more history. St. Andrews was founded in the 18th century as a British Colonial settlement, and it has remained a popular place to live and visit ever since. St. Andrews is situated on the waters of the Passamaquoddy Bay on the southern shore of the province, making it the perfect spot to rent a waterfront cabin for a weekend getaway.

Gibsons, British Columbia

Gibsons, British Columbia is a hidden gem for many locals, and for good reason. Gibsons is part of British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast, which is a portion of mainland only accessible via a 40-minute ferry ride from Vancouver. The remoteness of Gibsons is just one of the reasons why so many locals and tourists alike love this tiny town so much.

Fun fact: Gibsons was the filming location for the wildly popular 1970s and 1980s TV show The Beachcombers. As if that wasn’t impressive enough, a local Gibson’s attraction, the Molly’s Reach Cafe, was heavily featured on the show during its run. Pretty cool, huh?
