How can I spot a fraudulent claim?

It is incredibly difficult to detect a claim that is fraudulent from the onset; however, there are some tell-tale signs you can look for in order to determine if it might be fake.

Is There A Pattern?

One of the first things you want to do when looking at insurance programmers claims is analyze them for any patterns or abnormalities. Has this person filed multiple claims with us recently? Is there an MO (Modus Operandi) to their filing style? Do they often file on days off? If so, then this should set off red flags right away. Make sure that you inform your superiors immediately!

Did something not sit quite right with you while processing this claim? Did the claimant seem overly nervous or fidgety? Did they continually try to change the subject or look away when you fixed them with a serious stare and asked probing questions about their claim? Is There Physical Evidence Available For Analysis?

Are they wearing brand-new clothing to the interview? Do they have any injuries or medical records that might support their claims? What about eyewitnesses – are there any around who can speak to the legitimacy of the claimant’s story?
